Richard Satchwell, now on trial for the alleged murder of his wife Tina in 2017, told gardaí her personality drastically shifted after her brother’s 2012 suicide. In a video interview following his October 2023 arrest,
Satchwell recounted how Tina became emotionally distant and aggressive, often threatening to leave him and expressing hatred, only to apologise later.

After Tina disappeared, he said he was consumed by confusion and grief. However, gardaí later told him that witness accounts contradicted his account.
Satchwell dismissed these claims, calling them mistaken or untrue. Tina’s body was found over six years later, hidden beneath the stairs in their Youghal home.
