Garda Feared Tina Satchwell Was MurderedA former Garda sergeant has revealed that suspicions of foul play in the disappearance of Tina Satchwell surfaced early in the investigation. John Sharkey, who was stationed at Youghal Garda station in March 2017, testified that he believed something potentially criminal had occurred shortly after Tina was last seen.

The court heard that a detailed 12-hour search of the Satchwell residence at 3 Grattan Street, Youghal, took place on June 7, 2017, beginning at approximately 7:30 am. Sergeant Sharkey stated that he and his colleagues became increasingly concerned as their efforts to locate Tina yielded no significant results.

During the search, up to ten Gardaí participated, employing a Lumino test, commonly used to detect traces of blood. Crime Scene Investigator Cathal Whelan described the interior of the house as being in disarray, noting dirty dishes, dog faeces on the floor, and an unkempt birdcage, indicating a lack of recent upkeep.

Richard Satchwell, aged 57, of the same address, stands accused of murdering his wife, Tina Satchwell, in March 2017. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
