Gardaí attached to the Serious Crime Investigation Unit in Cork continue to investigate an incident of arson and criminal damage to residential property in Cork on 24 April 2025.Shortly after 9 p.m., Gardaí and fire services responded to a fire at a residence in Dublin Pike, Ballincrokig. An elderly couple in their 80s were rescued from the house, which was extensively damaged.
As part of this ongoing investigation, two individuals were arrested during an operation in the Dublin area on 6th May 2025. During the operation, detectives from Cork searched two residential properties in Dublin.

Two men, aged their 30s, were arrested and are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Cork City.
