Ukrainian mother and daughter, Victoria and 13-year-old Alisa are searching for a new home after a fire destroyed their house in Ballincollig, Ireland. Their dog, Milo, rescued and revived by Cork City firefighters using a special animal oxygen mask, became a viral sensation. The pair, who fled the Donbas region in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion, have been rebuilding their lives in Ireland since June 2022. Alisa attends a local secondary school, and Victoriia works at a call center while volunteering with local charities.

The fire started early Sunday morning, and firefighters bravely retrieved Milo, who was unconscious inside the heavily smoke-logged house. Milo is now recovering on medication after receiving a vet’s care.#advert

The family temporarily resides with a neighbour but urgently needs long-term accommodation in the area. They hope to stay close due to Alisa’s school and Victoriia’s work.

Milo, who responds to Ukrainian commands, has had a history of close calls but remains a beloved and lucky companion. The special oxygen masks, donated to Cork City Fire Brigade in 2021, have saved numerous pets, highlighting the brigade’s commitment to rescuing animals in emergencies.
