The long-awaited verdicts of the inquests into the 1981 Stardust nightclub fire, which claimed 48 lives, have finally been delivered. The jury returned verdicts of unlawful killing, bringing a sense of justice to the survivors and the victims’ families.
Bridget McDermott, who lost three children in the fire, was present in court to hear the verdicts. Her daughter, Louise, expressed relief and said, “We’re taking you out of the flames… and you’re coming back to us, home.” Antoinette Keegan, who lost two sisters but survived the fire, described it as an “overwhelming day”
She called for a criminal investigation and a public apology from the State. Maurice Frazer, who lost his sister in the fire, echoed this sentiment, calling for a “meaningful public apology” from the State. He described the verdicts as a “turning point” and a step towards closure.
The families’ solicitor, Darragh Mackin, commended the “power of the people” and praised the families’ perseverance. The verdicts have restored the victims’ dignity and humanity, and the 48 who never came home are now at peace.

Gardaí in Cork County detained three males in their 30s and 40s under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 for organized crime-related offenses. This morning’s operations included searches at five locations in Co. Cork and two in Co. Roscommon, leading to the seizure of evidential items. Over 100 Gardaí participated, led by detectives from the Divisional Protective Service Unit, Cork County.
The investigation, supported by specialists from various national units including the Human Trafficking Investigation & Coordination Unit and the Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau, targets an Organized Crime Group with Eastern European connections allegedly involved in human trafficking for labor exploitation in Ireland. International support from Europol enhances the investigation.
An Garda Síochána urges victims of human trafficking or labor exploitation to report to local stations or call the Garda Confidential Phone Number. Victims may not always report themselves, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and assistance. An Garda Síochána withholds further comments on the ongoing operation. Background information highlights sectors where labor exploitation commonly occurs, underscoring the need for vigilance and support
People who have been trafficked for the purpose of labour exploitation are typically (but not exclusively) made to work in sectors such as: agriculture, construction, entertainment, service industry, manufacturing and domestic servitude as well as begging.
They may be forced into labour exploitation directly by the OCG, but are more likely to be made available for work by 3rd party employers who often may not be aware of the activities of the OCG and believe that the labour may be legitimately sourced.
Clearly we see another law introduced that is not properly explained and the consequences are dire for Irish people. Flooding remedial works, building of all sorts including public building such as schools and hospitals will now be affected. I used the word reckless in my interview with Gerry O Sullivan on Kerry Radio yesterday.
I will now up grade it to dangerous. I expressed my concerns for years on the Directions the European Commission is taking us, for years, even though I am not an MEP as I spend alot of my time meeting with the Commission to discuss their program on such issues, I am present as a key stakeholder, problem is few of our MEPs understand what it is they are being told. This is why Ireland is losing out in Europe in many key areas.
As a Aontu Candidate in June Elections I am asking you to consider loaning me your vote so I can work for Ireland for the next 5 years and promise you I will consult you the people while I am there regularly and it will not be five years time before you see of hear from me just before the election. Can you name you current MEPs ? If not ask yourself why?

The overall wellbeing of youths can be enhanced when they look and feel better; it boosts their self-esteem.
As a specialist in male grooming, from experience I recognise that many of our younger customers, teens and young men, may not have been offered professional information or advice to address their self-care, hygiene, and particularly shaving skills. For that reason, I have created a Health and Wellness, Male Grooming Skills training programme to help our young men achieve the best results for their personal care and grooming needs.
