Truck driver Richard Satchwell has been formally charged with the murder of his wife Tina and has been sent for trial at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.

Tina’s skeletal remains were discovered under the floor of their home in Cork after she was reported missing in March 2017. The book of evidence was served during a court session in Co Tipperary, where Judge Brian O’Shea remanded Satchwell in custody for trial by indictment.

The judge also issued an alibi warning and granted legal aid for his defence, covering both junior and senior counsel. Satchwell, represented by solicitor Aidan Leahy, attended the hearing wearing a grey tracksuit and remained silent. Earlier warnings about the case’s progress were issued, emphasizing the extended custody period. Satchwell had previously been denied bail due to concerns about flight risk, with Judge Siobhan Lankford highlighting the severity of the charges.
