  • Elected to Seanad Eireann (Labour Panel) in July, 2007 and Polled over 5,000 first-preference votes in '07 General Election,
  • Seanad Spokesperson on Community, Rural and Gaeltach Affairs Since October 2007.
  • A Secondary School Teacher and Director of Adult Education at Ballincollig Community School.
  • Writes a weekly education column in 'Cork Independent'.

  • Jerry is a former Youth and Development Officer of Cork County GAA Board.
  • Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (September 2002- October 2004)
  • GAA President Sean Kelly appointed him to Croke Park's Marketing Committee and he is currently chairman of Bishopstown GAA club.
  • Has a keen interest in radio, and has contributed to RTE Radio Cork and Cork University Hospital Radio.
